My nickname is … Souc, dubbed my dad. It was his nickname as a kid also.
I can’t go a day without … coffee. It’s so cliché, but it’s part of my morning ritual.
If you were in my office, you’d … possibly be in a coffee shop, gym lobby, my car—or matside at wrestling or jiujitsu for my kids!
My colleagues would be surprised to know that … it took me a long time to identify with the label of “business owner” and I really resisted it for a long time.
When I was a newbie lawyer I … spent a lot of unnecessary energy worrying about how I was being perceived and if I was being taken seriously. I do not miss that!
The lawyer I most admire is … hard to say. I have so much admiration and gratitude for the trailblazing women attorneys and judges who came before me and made it possible for me to be here. But I also have a lot of admiration for my father. He is a first-generation college student and attorney, and he taught me everything I know about how to take care of people. He has had a personal injury practice in Anoka for nearly 40 years!
The quality I most like in a lawyer is … authenticity.
My career high point (so far) has been … publishing a book! Law Moms: Juggling Motherhood, Ambition and Personal Fulfillment is a multiauthor book in which we share our personal stories of motherhood and law practice.
If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … a coach. I started coaching youth sports for my kids and I absolutely love it.
When I win a case, I celebrate by … thanking my staff, and buying some new yarn.
My guilty pleasure is … Bravo TV shows.
My favorite word is … not suitable for publication.
My courtroom walk-up song would be … “Soft” by Fox Sinclair.
