If you were in my office, you’d … notice that the walls are mostly bare except for a poster that reads, “Work Hard & Be Nice to People.”
My colleagues would be surprised to know that … I did not dream of being a lawyer as a kid. I wanted to own a small-town newspaper.
My pre-trial routine is … akin to a cat in a bathtub. I’ve given up trying to change this. I am who I am.
When I started, I wish I knew … that mistakes can be fixed, so take a breath and do your best.
If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … a baker.
My favorite baked good is … a good ol’ fashioned fried donut.
The SCOTUS justice I’d like to meet is … Sonia Sotomayor.
The SCOTUS decision I’d overturn is … Citizens United.
A different practice area that intrigues me is … intellectual property.
I can do a pretty good impersonation of … myself freaking out (after I calm down).
I get angry when … I think my kids aren’t grateful enough for the sweet life they have.
The craziest thing I witnessed in a courtroom is … my 11-year-old son slamming down the gavel at a mock trial and shouting “Order in the court!” because one person in the gallery whispered something. I think the power got to his head.
My earliest memory is … pushing my little sister in a stroller around our farm while we ate banana popsicles.
The movie line I quote most often is … “So you’re telling me there’s a chance.” – Lloyd Christmas from Dumb & Dumber
The three people I’d invite to dinner are … my husband and two kids during hockey season, since we never get to have dinner together from September to March.
If I had a morning show, my co-host would be … my partner, Josh Heggem. I promise you, we are hilarious.
The last TV show I binge-watched was … The Handmaid’s Tale (again).
Nothing cheers me up like … planning a trip.
If I had a time machine, I would … travel back to when my kids were little and I would slow down and enjoy it more.
I wish I had invented … bobby pins.
My favorite word is … “Seriously?”
If I won the lottery I’d … buy City Bakery in Fergus Falls and reopen it.
My courtroom walk-up song would be … “The Middle” by Zedd. “Oh baby, why don’t you just meet me in the middle? / I’m losing my mind just a little.”
