I can’t go a day without … a giant cup of coffee to get started in the morning.

The qualities I most like in a lawyer are … reasonableness and an ability to understand and assess both sides of a case. It helps to reach an equitable resolution.

When I started, I wish I knew … how little I would like the billable hour.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … in an animal-related science field (e.g. marine biology, zoology) or astronomy—although the 5-year-old in me still thinks paleontology would be great.

The SCOTUS justice I’d like to meet is … The Notorious RBG.

I decompress after work … with working out or music. I still play clarinet in a community band, and it is a great source of stress relief.

A different practice area that intrigues me is … animal law. I think it would be difficult to see the tough situations on a regular basis, though.

On weekends I … want to be outside and active. During the workweek, I feel I become one with the seat of my desk chair.

The talent I wish I had is … feeling completely comfortable speaking in public.

The most fascinating person I ever met is … my childhood pastor in Ashtabula, Ohio—Elizabeth Eaton. She became the first female bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She was funny, well-rounded, wicked-smart and creative, kind, nonjudgmental, welcoming to all and completely inspiring.

I get angry when … people are cruel to others.

The last TV show I binge-watched was … The Americans. Prior to that, Veep. Tony Hale’s character is the greatest.

Nothing cheers me up like … spending time with my pets. I have two Saint Bernard mixes and a cat. Being next to a body of water doesn’t hurt, either.

The most annoying thing about my job is … email. You think you get caught up, but then you leave for an hour and it’s back—with double the amount.

One thing I would love to do in my life is to … hike the Appalachian Trail from start to finish.

If I had a time machine … I would go back to investigate ancient cultures.

Some of my favorite places to go in the U.S. are … national parks, before the rush of the busy season.

One thing I’ve never quite learned to enjoy is … cooking. It stresses me out.

My guilty pleasure song is … Billy Ocean: “Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car.” I can be a bit of an ’80s fan.
