I can’t go a day without … my venti chai nonfat no-water extra hot.

If you were in my office … you would be intrigued by the diversity of my “deal toys,” including:  boxing gloves from Olympic medalist Marlen Esparza and golden tweezers for the passage of eyelash-extension [training and licensing] legislation. Plus, three editions of my ALM publication, Texas Business Litigation.

My colleagues would be surprised to know that … some of my favorite people lived to be more than 100, including my grandmother; a former mother superior; and an international humanitarian.

When I was a newbie lawyer … I had to prove I would use a computer to earn one—we were still dictating memos in 1991.

The qualities I most like in a lawyer are … grit, with a humanitarian spirit.

When I started, I wish I knew … this career, our profession, is not a sprint—it is a marathon.

My career high points (so far) have been … Outstanding Young Americans recognition from the U.S. Jaycees Foundation in Boston, my first point of arrival as an immigrant; and co-counseling a damages trial with Steve Susman in Puerto Rico federal district court.

The SCOTUS justice I’d like to meet is … all current and former female U.S. Supreme Court justices, to learn from the paradigm of these strong, smart and bold women.

A different practice area that intrigues me is … international corporate law—I was intrigued by the machinations of business during my Harvard Business School OPM experience.

My favorite Twitter feed is … I’m old-school and still enjoy reading newspapers in traditional form.  Perhaps at some point, one of my three children will teach me how to use Twitter.

My fictional hero is … Wonder Woman—it is indeed a “balance” to have it all.

My real-life hero is … my father. He left his homeland with my mother and their five children at the age of 33, immigrating to the U.S. with 14 suitcases and a dream.

On weekends I … enjoy la familia and being Mamá, reading my favorite newspapers—The Houston Chronicle, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times—and paying it forward as best possible.

The most fascinating people I ever met are … I am truly blessed to have met some luminaries—all of whom are captivating and diverse figures, including Maya Angelou, President George H.W. Bush, Prince Charles, George Clooney, President Barack Obama, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Al Pacino and Gloria Steinem.

On my best day … I treat all the people I interact with along the way well.

The last TV show I binge-watched was … This is a luxury I’ve yet to have. Instead, I find formidable guests for my Latina Voices: Smart Talk television program. [Editor’s note: She has co-hosted her show for 10 years.]

Nothing cheers me up like … a little sun, a delicious cup of café, a great read and, of course, amigos y la familia.

If I had a morning show, my co-host would be … Minerva Perez—my current co-host, co-producer and founder of my TV show.

My guilty pleasure is … traveling to my place of birth—Buenos Aires, Argentina.

My favorite words are … “sí se puede” [“yes, you can”], “carpe diem” and “strong, smart and bold.”
