My nicknames are … Tito, Tommy, T-Scan.
I can’t go a day without … coffee. I just can’t get going without it!
The quality I most like in a lawyer is … humility. It’s my humble opinion that pride clouds judgment; and when your clients are counting on you for clear, objective advice, there’s just no room for ego.
If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … a snow-skiing instructor. I’ve skied with my family my entire life, and it’s still a great passion of ours.
When I win a case, I celebrate by … sleeping! When I’m ramping up for a big hearing or trial, I’m normally sleep-deprived due to obsessive preparation.
The SCOTUS justice I’d like to meet is … Justice Clarence Thomas. Given the controversy surrounding the last Supreme Court nomination, I think it would be fascinating to hear Justice Thomas’ perspective on having defended similar accusations. I also wonder why Justice Thomas almost never asks any questions during oral argument.
The POTUS I’d like to meet is … President George W. Bush. I can’t imagine the pressure of responding to the 9/11 attacks. I was a freshman in college at Texas Tech University on Sept. 11, 2001; I vividly remember that day. To hear President Bush’s unique accounting would be an incredible experience.
A different practice area that intrigues me is … First Amendment.
I can’t believe more people haven’t read … The United States Constitution; Plato’s Republic.
I can do a pretty good impersonation of … President Trump.
My real-life hero is … my grandfather.
On weekends I … spend time with my family and friends golfing, shooting and fishing.
The most fascinating person I’ve ever met is … Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. During my second year in law school, I had the honor of shaking the hand of the first woman to serve as a United States Supreme Court justice. I am a huge fan of any trailblazer, and she has been so influential to our society and politics.
The movie line I quote most often is … “Always know if the juice is worth the squeeze!”—The Girl Next Door
I wish I had invented … The Yeti Cooler. I use my Yeti Coolers so often and for so many purposes that I really wish I had come up with that idea.
The last TV shows I binge-watched were … Yellowstone, Ozark, Stranger Things.
The most annoying thing about my job is … entering time.
