Please Do Touch the Fuzzy Chair

Discovery with Brandy Austin

Published in 2021 Texas Rising Stars magazine

My colleagues would be surprised to know that … I’m Appalachian—born in Salisbury, North Carolina.

When I was a newbie lawyer I … bought a fancy, monogrammed padfolio and never used it.

The lawyer I most admire is … RBG. She encouraged women to know their worth and make their own path.

The quality I most like in a lawyer is … honesty.

If you were in my office, you’d … ask questions about my weird chairs. Almost every person touches the fluffy one.

My pre-trial routine is … read the file. Then read it again.

My career high point (so far) has been … creating a successful business.

I almost quit the law because … people are mean. Litigation is adversarial. A lot of people discount me because I am female.

My favorite Twitter feed is … @BudKennedy for local news; @sarahcpr for funnies.

On weekends I … hang out with my kids, go outdoors, relax.

The most fascinating person I ever met is … my husband. I could not do what I do without him.

I get angry when … people are treated unequally.
