The principal attorney at The Alsandor Law Firm, Cheryl L. Alsandor focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters, and she has been certified as a specialist in that discipline by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 2006. Based in Houston, Texas, she provides representation to residents of the greater metropolitan area who are facing the end of their marriages and who need advice and counsel when dealing with such divorce-related issues as the division of community assets and debts, child custody and visitation, and alimony and child support. An experienced courtroom advocate, Ms. Alsandor is also certified as a mediator, and she often encourages her clients to seek an accord on some of these issues through the use of that alternative dispute resolution method.
In addition to her matrimonial practice, Ms. Alsandor assists clients who are petitioning the court for the enforcement of or modifications to existing support and parenting orders. Other family law matters that she has significant experience in include adoptions and paternity proceedings, and she regularly reviews and prepares prenuptial agreements. Ms. Alsandor also helps victims of domestic violence to obtain appropriate protective orders. She has served as a judge for the Houston Municipal Courts system as well.
Ms. Alsandor is a 1990 graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where she majored in Economics and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1990. After teaching elementary students for four years in both Houston and Sugar Land, she enrolled at the University of Houston Law Center and was subsequently awarded her Juris Doctor in 1998. Admitted to practice in Texas, Ms. Alsandor's professional affiliations include the Family Law Section of the Houston Bar Association and the Burta Rhoads Raborn Family Law Inn of Court.
