Details

Candice L. Komar is a founding member of Pollock Begg in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Candice's aptitude for business benefits her clients, particularly in the valuation of closely held businesses and other considerations in divorces involving complex issues or high net worth individuals.

Her decades of experience enable her to take a quick overview of a case, synthesize the numbers, and create options and cost estimates to achieve those options. Candice devotes a significant portion of practice to custody cases, particularly relocation matters. She is also trained in collaborative law and works with clients on collaborative divorces.

Her experience in collaborative law helps with her divorce cases, providing her with an understanding of the motivations and needs of the party on the other side of the case and, therefore, the ability to create strategies that take their disposition into account. In 2013 she obtained her Mediation Certification from the Association of Conflict Resolution. She also obtained a Certification in Constellation Therapy through the Hellinger Institute of Western Pennsylvania.

She has considerable trial experience in Allegheny County and surrounding counties, particularly in valuation of closely held business interests, complex support cases and custody matters, including custody relocation.

Candice is a graduate of the University of Dayton Law School, where she served as associate legislative note editor of the Law Review. She earned dual bachelor degrees in English and Business from the University of Pittsburgh.

Candice has been recognized by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers since 2007 and has regularly been named to Super Lawyers' Top 50 Women Lawyers in Pennsylvania and Top 50 Attorneys in Pittsburgh lists. She has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America annual edition since 2008. Candice was granted fellowship in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in June 2011, in recognition of her leadership, professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law.

  • Will a collaborative divorce work for you? Pittsburgh collaborative family law attorney Candice L. Komar explains individuals and couples appreciate the privacy and control they experience in the collaborative process for divorce and family law matters in this video. The collaborative process offers a team approach where collaboratively trained professionals meet with the individuals to discuss their interests and provide them with information in helping to make decisions about their particular issues. The goal of the collaborative process is to reach an overall settlement prior to either party filing for divorce. The agreement then becomes a marriage settlement agreement.
