Discovery with Lisa A. Callif

Super Callif’s agile list of sushi, snuggles, boat trips

Published in 2018 Southern California Super Lawyers magazine

My nickname is … Boss.

I can’t go a day without … Green #2 from Kreation.

My colleagues would be surprised to know that … when I was 17 I played a pregnant teen in a rap video.

On my best day I … get in a good workout (especially Hot 8 Yoga).

On my worst day I … eat cookies all day in my office … like I am right now.

When I was a newbie lawyer I … was 15 minutes early to everything.

The lawyer I most admire is … Michael Donaldson. He’s smart, fair, kind and at 77 not only loves practicing law but also makes time to do trapeze three times a week.

The quality I most like in a lawyer is … a big-picture thinker.

When I started, I wish I knew … how to be myself.

My career high point (so far) has been … taking notes, as a first-year lawyer, during Snoop Dogg’s deposition.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … an event planner.

My courtroom walkup music would be … “Mama Said Knock You Out” by LL Cool J.

My fictional hero is … Wonder Woman (the 2017 version).

My real-life hero is … my mom. She can do a million things at one time—effortlessly, quickly and flawlessly.

On weekends I … hang with the kiddos and eat at great restaurants with the husband when I can squeeze in a date night.

The talent I wish I had is … singing.

My favorite meal is … sushi, or Jon & Vinny’s pizza.

I get angry when … my kids eat nothing but GMOs for days.

My earliest memory is … sitting on a boat with my family and being sure that a swordfish was going to saw our boat in half.

The movie line I quote most often is … “Bye Felicia!” from the movie Friday.

The three people I’d invite to dinner are … Rachel Zoe, Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs.

If I had a morning show, my co-host would be … Aziz Ansari, because he’s thoughtful and he makes me laugh.

Nothing cheers me up like … morning snuggles with my kids.

My guilty pleasure is … online shopping late at night when I feel I deserve to buy something because I’m working so hard.

My favorite word is … YES!

My least favorite word is … NO!

The most annoying thing about my job is … having to fake being a therapist.

The most fascinating person I ever met is … I’m still waiting.

My motto is … Everything is fixable.
