My nickname is … whatever my name is auto-corrected to, e.g. Mullens, Mariah, Malika; the list goes on.
I can’t go a day without … looking something up on Wikipedia.
My colleagues would be surprised to know that … I’m a choir geek (and proud of it).
The lawyers I most admire are … Bob Zupkus and Rick Angell, and I was lucky enough to be mentored by both.
My pre-trial routine is … I watch videos of my favorite opening statements. It’s how I get ready for game day!
When I started, I wish I knew … that how you practice law should be authentic to who you are as a person.
When I win a case, I celebrate by … catching up with all those family and friends I neglected during trial.
The SCOTUS justice I’d like to meet is … RBG all the way!
A different practice area that intrigues me is … trademark infringement.
My favorite Twitter feed is … VeryBritishProblems (@SoVeryBritish).
I can’t believe more people haven’t read … Beneath a Marble Sky by John Shors.
I can do a pretty good impersonation of … Gru from Despicable Me.
My most bizarre talent is … if you stand on my back, I can guess your weight. I’m usually pretty accurate!
On weekends I … aspire to brunch but rarely do!
The most fascinating person I ever met is … my maternal grandmother. She emigrated from Kashmir to Tanzania and then immigrated once again to England—and all while raising nine children! Even though my grandmother never went to school, she truly valued education.
My motto is … “Happy people do great work.”
The craziest thing I witnessed in a courtroom is … attorneys fighting over terminology. Was it a “gentlemen’s club” or a “strip club?”
My earliest memory is … long days of playing outside with my brother. That was in the 1980s in Tripoli, Libya.
My favorite song lyric is … “Let’s love ourselves and we can’t fail to make a better situation. Tomorrow, our seeds will grow. All we need is dedication.”–Lauryn Hill
The three people I’d invite to dinner are … Mindy Kaling, Chris Rock and Nelson Mandela.
I wish I had invented … binder clips: a binder clip to a lawyer is what a stethoscope is to a doctor.
Nothing cheers me up like … my kids.
My favorite word is … cupcake.
My least-favorite word is … hereinafter.
My courtroom walk-up song would be … “Beat It” by Michael Jackson.
The question I wish people would stop asking is … “You’re a millennial, aren’t you?”
