Debby Cochran started running every day while in law school, and she hasn’t stopped. To date, the founder of Cochran Law Group has completed more than 25 full marathons, including several appearances at the Boston Marathon—her favorite race—as well as several half-marathons.
The Tysons-based estate planning and probate attorney’s four kids—Jeffrey, Alex, Allison and Mitchell, now all adults—join her for some of the half-marathons; and the whole family, including her husband, Brian, enjoys hiking together all over the world.
“After running so many years, it is so special to run with my kids, although it’s getting harder to keep up with them,” Cochran says.
The out-of-office activity pays off on the job as well. “I do some of my most creative problem-solving out on the road,” Cochran explains. “As a distance runner, there is plenty of time to consider issues from many different angles. I find I can think most clearly when I am active.”
