My colleagues would be surprised to know that … I am a part-owner of a coffee company that sources organic, shade-grown beans from Mexico and Central America.

If you were in my office, you’d … wonder why I still have so much paper.  

The quality I most like in a lawyer is … commitment—to clients, craft and cause. 

My pre-trial routine is … nose to the grindstone. I have yet to find a shortcut to getting ready for trial.

When I started, I wish I knew … something, anything, about practicing law!

My career high point (so far) has been … representing families and survivors of the Oso landslide.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … a wilderness ranger for the U.S. Forest Service.

I almost quit the law because … I couldn’t figure out how to be a trial lawyer and mother. The answer: my husband, neighbors, law partners, peanut butter and a certain amount of chaos.

The SCOTUS justice I’d like to meet is … Sonia Sotomayor.

The SCOTUS decision I’d overturn is … Citizens United (obviously).

My favorite Twitter feed is … What’s Twitter? Seriously, I have enough social media in my life without Twitter!

I can’t believe more people don’t read … the NYT!

My real-life heroes are … any number of my clients, who have persevered despite the odds.

On weekends I … get outside and ski, bike or hike with family. And work.

The most fascinating person I ever met is … Everyone has a fascinating story to tell—truly! 

On my best day I … finish something that really matters, get some exercise, hang with my family, and shut off all electronic devices by 9 p.m.  

On my worst day I … don’t get past “Go.”   

The last TV show I binge-watched was … What’s TV?  

Nothing cheers me up like … being away with my family.

The most annoying thing about my job is … the internet, which never sleeps.

The lawyer I most admire is … Jeffery P. Robinson, who generously taught me so much about trial practice, lives by his principles every single day, and has the most amazing memory for lyrics and movie lines.  

My guilty pleasure is … gelato. Lots of it.

My favorite word is … “resistance” (for now).
