I would say Clio is the most helpful app for me because it allows you to track your calendar, billing, documents and client information all in one place. It also allows separate logins for my legal assistant and bookkeeper. It even lets me know whenever one of my staff has updated a calendar entry or a client has logged in to check the balance on his or her account.

I started my own practice in January and I use accounting software called Xero that has an app with it. The app notifies you via text any time a withdrawal occurs from your operating account. But what I really like is: I’m a paperless office, and when I go out to dinner or make other purchases I can just take a photo of the receipt and upload it to the cloud and to my accounting software. I can toss the receipt. I recently was traveling at a convention and I didn’t have to haul back a bunch of receipts; I was able to just, boom—take a picture and upload receipts as I went.
