What’s the next best thing if you’re not (yet) a hall of fame drummer? Playing drums at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Aislinn Sroczynski of Royer Cooper Cohen Braunfeld had that opportunity when she attended the 2024 HOF induction of Dave Matthews Band.
The museum’s house band was playing during the festivities, and when the call went out for volunteers, Sroczynski jumped at the chance to join them onstage for a song: “All the Small Things” by Blink-182.
“The museum was absolutely slammed, so I had a good-sized crowd,” she says. “Being a part of the induction weekend reminded me why I started playing drums as a kid, and how music has always been a source of joy and connection.”
Sroczynski’s dad was the singer in the 1980s thrash metal band Slaughter House—and Sroczynski still occasionally sits in for shows with his current band, Ripped—but she got her start on the drums thanks to her mom, a Scottish immigrant. “I actually started out as a snare drummer in the St. Columcille United Gaelic Pipe Band as a kid,” she says. “We competed all over the Northeast U.S. at different Scottish Games. My snare drum skills transferred over pretty seamlessly to the drum set.”
